When it comes to animal print kids fashion, it’s often said kids look naff, even more so babies, but I beg to differ. Yes, there are some pretty tacky or inappropriate (as in far too grown up) realisations of animal print kidswear – I tend to find leopard print and fuchsia combinations fit this category. However, this mama rocks a lot of leopard print stylishly and what’s good enough for mama, is certainly good enough for baby.
It’s all in how you wear it. For kids, that means pairing animal print with faded denim (90s grunge style), with minimal outfits as accessories or my favourite way bohemian artisan. The latter means plenty of colour, clashing prints and a maverick attention to detail. As it’s been press show season (SS16 is just around the corner mummies), I’ve had a lot of fun dressing up my new companion/ ‘arm candy’ Baby ER, but this artistic look has been my favourite so far.
I started off with a Gap corduroy animal print onesie over a bright printed babygro. The finishing touches were a floral bunny bow headband worn low to the side, boho style, and her fluffy Zara fleece jacket. Yes, there is an art to clashing prints. You really want to make sure there’s a colour running through the outfit in a couple of places, in this case, it was red.
