Welcome to The Mama Style List, my fortnightly round up of loves, news and wants.
- I feel like I’ve made it to the other side of welcoming baby no. 2 to the family. Baby Lolo sleeps through the night and MG adores her, and yet I feel so exhausted lately. As I crank up the styling gears again, work on the blog and my body (I’m on that mum tum like a hawk mamas), I can’t shift this permenant state of fuzziness. I keep saying all I need is one day in bed, no distractions, no little people needing me, just me, my pillows and Planet Nod. In the meantime, I’m cheating my way to looking refreshed and glowing with Bobbi Brown’s genius Shimmer Brick. It’s a multi-functioning bronzer and highlighter, you can use on your cheekbones, eyes – you name it. I just take a fat make up brush and sweep it over my cheek bones and temples for an instant dewy look.
- One of my favourite nursing bra brands Hot Milk has just launched their very first sports bra. I’ve been working out with Janey over at TailorMay.com for the last 4 weeks and I’ve found my long lost pal My Core is returning, as is my stamina. I’ve even started thinking about getting a jogging buggy, as I’d love to start running with Baby Lolo post morning school run and a Hotmilk Activate Sports Nursing Bra would be perfect for this.
- My favourite supermodel Jourdan Dunn, Londoner and proud mummy to gorgeous Riley has launched her first ever kids’ collection Lil’ LonDunn. Partnering up with Marks & Spencer for their ‘M&S &’ series (they also launched a fabby collab with Alexa Chung), the unisex collection is so achingly cool, I feel pretty smug MG has got his hands on the much coveted Bomber Jacket and T-shirt. It’s all sporty separates kids can be proper kids in while looking effortlessly bad ass.
- We’re so close to summer now, I can taste it. Well I should say the sun’s out a lot more, which means I got the toes out this week for the first time this year. I wore my gorgeous Swedish Hasbeens for the occasion, but the experience was cut relatively short, as despite the glorious rays, it was FREEZING!! Anyway, you can’t go wrong with a classic wooden sandal in the summer time and if you are going to get one, you may as well go to the best. I’m in love with this tropical orange design the Pearl High, not too high and perfect dressed down with jeans and a tee or more boho with a printed dress.
- Did you know my very first fashion internship was with Julien MacDonald many, many moons ago? So, I’ve enjoyed watching his ascension into fashion superstardom over the years. How amazing for the little ones, that he has launched his first ever kids collection SMILE by Julien MacDonald with kids’ giant Mothercare this week. I LOVE it, think rocker babies, cheeky motifs and stunning occasionwear for boys and girls, babies and up. Oh and there’s a tonne of leopard print and you know I’m a leopard print nut!.
- My mum has kindly offered my husband and I some date night childcare and I’m going to use one of the nights to go and see the new Miles Davis film Miles Ahead starring Don Cheadle and Ewan McGregor. I am such a big jazz head, so I know I could love it for the music alone, then there are the 70s costumes, according to the reviews stellar performances and an amazing spin off album by Robert Glasper.
